What codecs does Totem need installed to play avi files?

Totem says video codec xvid is not handled?

It would be great if MoonOS could handle video playback out the box without needing to install anything.

THANKS

moonOS is handle a lot of codecs and also DVD playback. But your codecs seem to be not available for gstreamer. You can use VLC or convert it into OGG.

All I know is MoonOS is based off Debian/Ubuntu and Ubuntu and Mint can both play Xvid files on totem.

Of course you need to install codecs.

I ran Ubuntu a few months back, can't remember the command I ran, but this one too:

help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

(Not sure I need this command, don't remember running it before)

Hey,

right after installing moonOS, totem seemed to play none codecs.

I installed the package: "totem-gstreamer" , which made totem play every codecs i tried.

Maybe that will help someone.
